Flora & Fauna

Posted in Podcasts on August 6th, 2010

Scotland’s wildlife is typical of the north west of Europe, although several of the larger mammals such as the Lynx, Brown Bear, Wolf, Elk and Walrus were hunted to extinction in historic times. The flora of the country is varied incorporating both deciduous and coniferous woodland and moorland and tundra species. from Wikipedia

No this isn’t a National Geographic special, though that would be awesome to see, it’s a tasting of two offerings by independent bottler Flora and Fauna. The Rosebank 12 year and the Mortlach 16 year.

Join us next time when we’ll be tasting the Auchentoshan 10 year and Glenfarclas 10 year.

The Veldt

Posted in Podcasts on July 6th, 2010

With a dram in hand we sit and look out over the flat, grass covered fields. Come to think of it, this could be a great place to relax with a nice short story as well.

This time around our drams of choice are the Dalwhinnie 15 year and Tomintoul 16 year.

Flower Power

Posted in Podcasts on June 3rd, 2010

Dig through the closet for your best embroidered flower covered, vibrant colored outfit. Put some flowers in your hair and join hands or, in this case, scotch glasses around the circle. Ok, don’t worry. We’re not staging a sit-in but we are staging a tasting of the Glenlivet 12 year and Longmorn 16 year.

We’re short one Jeff this time around, but we will be joined for the tasting by two special guests.

Salt and Pepper

Posted in Podcasts on May 3rd, 2010

With a pinch of salt and a dash of pepper we bring you yet another round of The Scotchcast!

We’re not talking about your everyday kitchen spices however. The salt and pepper we’ll be looking at this time take the form of the Old Pulteney 12 year, and the Talisker Distiller’s Edition 1998.

We’ll be joined for the tasting by two special guests, and we’ll have a short revisit of last months tasting through the eyes, or rather taste buds, of some unsuspecting friends.

No Foolin’

Posted in Podcasts on April 2nd, 2010

This will be the last episode of the Scotchcast… NOT!

Ok, ok, we know April Fool’s Day was yesterday and we know that you know we’re not going anywhere. That said, this episode was never intended to be an April fool’s, but we’ll let you decide for yourselves after listening.

This time around we’ll be tasting Jon, Mark, and Robbo’s The Smooth Sweeter One, and The Rich Spicy One, and in Scotch 101 Chip will tell us just exactly what a “vatted malt” is… or was, as the case may be.
